maker faire

it's been over a week and i'm still reeling over the maker faire. it was such a fun experience.

when i went for the first time last year it was like my heart exploded. so many cool projects. so many cool people. the whole place just overflowed with creativity, smiles, and adventure. i won't say it changed my life. but goddamn was i inspired.

in austin i worked our booth so i couldn't explore so much. but i loved seeing the austin community get excited about their first maker faire. i loved seeing michelle get excited. it was her first maker faire. and she went around meeting makers and taking videos. on the last day she came back to our booth with the most adorable felt desserts. i'd never had my mouth water from felt before but these looked delicious.

this year i didn't get to explore that mu
ch but the little that i did see i loved. it was cool seeing how the crafts had expanded. the bizarre bazaar and swap-o-rama were my favorites. there i ran into my friend emiko. she makes rad jewelry out of all sorts of materials. she was helping people create jewelery from a wide variety of toys. it looked like the best time ever...i should have never thrown away that monopoly set.

i got the cutest pin cushion from Cathy of California Handcrafts.
i saw it and got so happy. this might sound weird but just looking at it made me want to jump start my sewing projects. cathy was so incredibly nice and sweet too. i didn't have my wallet with me when i saw it but she said she would hold this one (the last of its color) for me. i'm really excited to get more handmade items from her.

i also met the coolest crafting duo.
mona and mike are the lovelies behind tinymeats in portland. they were sweet, fun, and full of energy. you know when you meet people and they not only make you smile but they make your day and give you this inspiration that's accessible and energizing? that's what it was like meeting those two.

i loved their table and found a wallet that
i just adored.

we started talking because i noticed that one of their wallets had work by ashleyg. she's may favorite artist on etsy and i've given her work as gifts. i just love seeing works from the same artists the homes of a bunch of my friends.

well, after i mentioned that we just kept talking. about our love for ashley, etsy, crafting, youtube, twitter, maker faire.....the list goes on. anyway i love these people and can't wait to collaborate with them one day.

maker faire rules!!!!!!!!!!!
